Digitalization between Sea and Space

On June 16, starting at 2:00 PM, the second event of Next Innovation Road 2026 — promoted by M.A.R.E. TC FVG — will be held in hybrid format (in Trieste and online), with the presentation of the working groups of the “Digitalization between Sea and Space” Community.

Keynotes and strategic vision The event opens with keynote speeches on the digitalization of the nautical and aerospace sectors.

Analysis of one-to-one interviews and launch of working groups A key session will follow: the presentation of the mapping and synthesis process conducted by the Cluster and by Community Manager Prof. Martino Trevisan of the University of Trieste, drawing on the results of the one-to-one meeting cycle carried out over the previous months with more than 60 ecosystem stakeholders. This activity produced a comprehensive picture of shared needs, competences, and project opportunities within the Community. Building on these results, the main technological and project directions will be presented, forming the basis for the activation of thematic working groups and supply-chain partnerships. In the following months, with the support of the Cluster’s Project Managers, the groups will work toward developing structured project proposals.

Open participation The event is open to stakeholders already involved as well as to companies, institutions, and organisations interested in learning about emerging opportunities and actively joining the working groups.

TransH2 – European Training Event Following the Community session, within the framework of the Interreg TransH2 project — in which the Cluster and the Department of Engineering of the University of Trieste are partners — a training event will be held on the role of digital technologies in maritime decarbonisation processes and in the development of hydrogen-based solutions. Two workshops will explore, from complementary perspectives, the current state of the art and future outlook for zero-emission shipping in the Adriatic:

• Current/Future State of Zero Emission Maritime Transport in the Adriatic Sea — Organised by the University of Trieste. Technical overview of hydrogen-based solutions in the naval sector.
• How Digital Technologies Can Be Used to Achieve Zero-Emission Maritime Transport in the Adriatic Sea — Organised by M.A.R.E. TC FVG. Analysis of the role of digital technologies in the processes and lifecycle of H₂-based systems.

Target audience The initiative targets companies, SMEs, start-ups, large enterprises, universities, research institutions, logistics and infrastructure operators, public authorities, and innovation ecosystem stakeholders. The full programme will be announced in the coming weeks.
